Lali Eats NYC

I get excited with road trips. the drive, the music, the food! Growing up, and living in several different states, my family had a chance to explore a bit of the USA via car. This is where I learned about classic rock and how to read a map. I talk so much that this was one time my parents did not mind-kept the driver awake. My dear sweet boyfriend-well he was a bit quiet and not much of a road game person (or maybe he just does not know any-but silence hushed over our van when I proclaimed we should play a game)
labor day weekend J and I drove a piece of furniture out to my sister in Chicago. We started driving at night. Negative-we would miss seeing the countryside, sleep could settle in. Positive-no traffic, less cops. Somewhere in Ohio around 5am caffine was consumed and my 12th wind kicked in. but around 7AM and somewhere in Indiana-sleep was attacking. a quick 2 hour nap later we were on the road and STARVING.
A lil research showed a Cracker Barrel not to far, and as the exit approached we also found out the same exit was the gateway to Bob Evans AND Perkins. Now being NYC’rs we do not have access to these venues nor do we think they would taste the same.
Cracker Barrel won in the “who-will-feed-us” battle.
cost of the battle? $19.68 plus tip-could not believe how cheap it was! the week before we dropped close to $60 on brunch!!!
I had the country meat-n-biscuits (chicken),an omelet with cheese and a side of potato hash. OH! and a side of gravy. J had eggs, potato has and 3 forms of meat (can you tell why we are dating?) we split the pecan pancakes, always need a little sweetness with savory.
The biscuit and chicken were my favorite! the omelet-not so much. J enjoyed his meal (and what ever I left of mine)
a few stares-which is weird because I think we look like a “normal” couple-but I guess NYC normal is a bit far from MidWest normal.

*(I think this is the one we went to)
overall Cracker Barrel made me want to improve on my breakfast making skills. not a place I desperately need to return to anytime soon-unless I am on another road trip.
